The iris (the coloured part of the eye) reflects the condition of the entire body and can be regarded as a window into the body's organs, circulation, skin, and overall constitution. By examining the iris, valuable information about a client's general state of health can be obtained. ### What can the iris reveal? - The immune system, including allergies and autoimmune tendencies - Hormonal balance - The nervous system – the iris is considered an extension of the brain and nervous system - Digestive function – including possible signs of poor intestinal health, food sensitivities, malabsorption, and nutritional deficiencies - Which dietary changes may be beneficial - Whether nutritional supplements, such as vitamins, minerals, or essential fatty acids, may be appropriate - Emotional and mental stress patterns - And much more Iris analysis is used to identify imbalances and dysfunctions within the body, possible causes of illness, lifestyle factors, hereditary predispositions, and constitutional strengths and weaknesses. An iris examination can provide insight into where imbalances may be present, a person's physical and mental condition, areas of tension, the body's detoxification processes, and the overall condition of the circulatory system. For therapists, iris analysis can be an invaluable tool when creating individual nutritional programmes and selecting the most appropriate herbal remedies for each client. Iris analysis has been practised for more than 6,000 years in countries such as India and China, and has long been used by physicians and natural health practitioners in Germany. Today, it is also taught in countries including Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Germany, where research into the field continues. ### Equipment During the course, a specialised iris microscope with an integrated camera is used to examine and photograph the iris. Comparing photographs over time can help monitor changes and document the effects of treatment. High-quality iris images can also be captured using a good digital camera or a modern smartphone.
