When sleep fails
Three reflexology moves you can do at home before bed.
Here is 3 simple reflexology techniques/zones you can use for sleep difficulties.
They can be performed on yourself before bedtime (5–10 minutes). All zones should be treated symmetrically on both feet:
1. The Solar Plexus Zone (stress relief)
Find the point in a vertical line below the third toe, just beneath the ball of the foot (slightly above the middle of the foot).
Press gently with your thumb for 5–10 seconds.
Release slowly and repeat 5–10 times on each foot.
This may help calm the nervous system and reduce restlessness.
2. Head/Brain Zones (the toes)
Massage all the toes, especially the tips/pads and the underside.
Use small circular movements and light pressure.
Continue for 2–3 minutes on each foot.
This may help quiet racing thoughts and make it easier to fall asleep.
3. The Spine Zone (inner edge/arch of the foot)
Move your thumb along the inside edge of the foot from the big toe down to the heel.
Use firm but comfortable pressure in a slow movement.
Repeat 5–10 times on each foot.
This may help relax the body and reduce physical tension.
Tip: Use a little oil or cream for a smoother, more calming massage, and combine it with slow, relaxed breathing if you like.
If your sleep problems persist, it may also be worthwhile to look at your sleep habits, screen use, try a professional reflexologist or speak with a healthcare professional.
